EU safety regulations for hand luggage
From 6 November 2006 new safety regulations apply to the amount of liquid you can carry in your hand baggage. You can only carry small amounts of liquids, gels and aerosols on board. These liquids must be in separate containers that do not exceed 100ml and these items must be packed in a certain way. These rules apply to all passengers departing from Bahrain airport regardless of their destination.
Restrictions
- You are only permitted to carry small amounts of liquids in your hand baggage.
- Liquids must be in separate containers and no single item may contain more than 100 milliliters of liquid.
- Items that contain liquids must be carried in one transparent plastic bag with a maximum capacity of one liter.
- The plastic bag must be re-sealable.
- Each passenger is allowed to carry one transparent plastic bag onto the aircraft.
What qualifies as ‘liquid’?
Any items that contain liquid substances, such as:
- Water and other (alcoholic) drinks, syrup and soup
- Perfume
- Gels, creams, lotions, aerosols
- Toiletries such as toothpaste, (roll-on) deodorant, lip gloss, shaving foam, liquid make-up and mascara.
Exceptions to these restrictions
There are three exceptions to these restrictions:
- Medicine and liquid dietary requirements for use during the trip (this concerns your flight and your stay)
- Ice packs for a safe transport of medicine
- Baby food for use during the trip
You must present these items separately during the hand baggage check. These items do not need to be carried in a transparent plastic bag and in this case there is no restriction on the amount that you can carry. Important! Boiled water (to mix with milk powder) may only be carried in your hand baggage to a maximum amount of 100 milliliters. |
